Background

IVO focuses on increasing access to veterinary care for underserved communities worldwide, but we also think it is important to provide support in our own backyard. 

After assessing the need for veterinary care around the San Francisco Bay Area, we recognized a huge demand and lapse of care for many of the animals in the city of Oakland. 

Impact

Since 2017, IVO has partnered with Friends of Oakland Animal Services (FOAS) to provide veterinary support for animals of Alameda County. This includes working with local animal shelters, including Oakland Animal Services and East Bay SPCA, to offer basic veterinary care for shelter animals and animals of low-income households.

We invite veterinary students, future veterinary technicians, and pre-vet students to join us and gain hands-on experience working shoulder-to-shoulder with IVO
